Artist’s Statement
Immersed in the act of painting, I embrace the unpredictable evolution of each piece, allowing gravity, evaporation, and time to become integral elements of the creative process. My practice revolves around observing and responding to the organic interactions that occur both within and beyond the studio, untouched by human intervention. Each artwork unfolds layer by layer, gradually revealing its ethereal qualities through a patient and meticulous process. The depth and complexity achieved in these layers cannot be hurried; they must be nurtured to emerge naturally.
My Cut-Out series, inspired by Matisse’s late-career techniques, distills design to its essence, producing archetypal pieces that evoke a sense of universality. Drawing from familiar yet abstract forms, I aim to create moments of suspended contemplation, inviting viewers to explore the subtle play of positive and negative space. Careful attention to scale, balance, and spatial relationships allows these works to be both sophisticated and uplifting, blending simplicity with an engaging depth.
In my Billboard series, I craft visual time capsules that explore the delicate tension between serenity and chaos in contemporary culture. This body of work draws inspiration from found objects, upcycled books, magazines, and other printed materials, which I repurpose into modern archives that examine the fleeting nature of cultural relevance. These layered compositions reimagine our collective consciousness with a touch of humor and introspection, capturing the transient yet enduring qualities of our world.
Informed by a deep respect for organic processes and the flow of time, my work seeks to connect viewers with the universal rhythms of nature and the evolving narratives of our shared human experience.
